Bakes on Lakes is a locally owned bakery located within Caltex Service Station on Lakes Road and is proudly privately owned and operated by locals. Owner David has lived in the Nambeelup area for 30 years, and head pastry chef, Darren, for over 15 years. Everything is made fresh on-site, from award-winning pies and pastries to the best donuts in town, along with fresh bread baked daily, cakes, and barista-made coffee.
Whether you’re after a quick snack or a hearty meal, our kitchen serves favourites like steak sandwiches, burgers, loaded wedges, and fish and chips in under 10 minutes, plus lighter options like salad rolls and wraps. With convenient indoor and outdoor seating, it’s the perfect place to refuel both your car and your appetite, just 1km off the Kwinana Freeway.

Darren, the Head Pastry Chef at Bakes on Lakes, is a celebrated culinary expert with multiple “Best Pie in Australia” awards under his belt. He also claimed the title of Gourmet Pie winner at the prestigious Great Aussie Pie Competition.
Beyond baking, Darren serves as a pit master judge, showcasing his versatile skill set. His talents have been recognized by notable figures, including creating cakes for the Premier of Western Australia. Additionally, Darren holds a Guinness World Record for assisting in building the largest chocolate crackle, adding another sweet accolade to his impressive career.
Pie Bakery
Our talented Pastry Chef, Sam
Sam, a talented pastry chef at Bakes on Lakes, brings an impressive range of skills and accolades to the bakery. She has won the Royal Show Competition for both pastries and bread, and is a Bakery Industries Award winner for her exceptional creations. Samantha has also earned medals at the Great Aussie Pie Competition and the Bread Competition.
